Google Play Books now in India

It is starting on a very limited basis but at least it is starting. Google has now released their online e-book store namely the Google Play Books in India.

This was officially announced on the Official Google India Blog earlier today. With the launch of this new feature for Google Play Store in India, Google Play is now officially providing books from Indian as well as foreign authors and publishers.

The Google Play Books is a direct competitor to the Flipkart Flyte ebooks as the book are cheaper than Flipkart Flyte store.

According to WSJ, India is supposed to become the third largest smartphone market by the end of 2013. Services like these will definitely expand the Android user base in India.

Apart from paid books, you have access to many of the free ebooks as well. This can be a start for getting more Google Play services like the Play Magazines, Play Music and other services.

Access the store on web here and download the official app here.

Thanks Suraj for sending this in.
